Two people die in collision on M7/N2 intersection
Two men died in a road accident yesterday morning.
Two people tragically lost their lives after an 18-wheeler truck and a car collided at the intersection of the M7 and N2 on Tuesday, 8 September at around 11.15am.
According to a report from the scene, the truck was driving towards Durban and collided with a vehicle driving across the intersection. Exact details of the cause however will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics, fire services, police rescue and several other services arrived at the scene and found the wreckage of the car about 40 metres from the remains of the truck.
The truck had veered off the road after impact, gone up an embankment and slammed into the bridge. The driver of the truck was trapped in the twisted frame of his vehicle and tragically died on impact.
“The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked fervently to resuscitate the man at the scene; tragically, despite their efforts he was declared dead at the scene,” said Chris Botha, spokesman for Netcare 911.
