John Wesley teachers put their feet forward

Samukeliso’s parents are not matches as donors for a bone marrow transplant and a search activation has commenced.

WHEN the John Wesley School teachers heard that Grade 3 pupil, Samukeliso Dlamini (8), had been diagnosed with severe, life-threatening aplastic anaemia and required frequent hospitalisation for blood and platelet transfusions every week, they sprung into action to find ways to assist.

With the John Wesley Family Fun Day coming up this Saturday, the teachers suggested a Big Walk to raise funds towards the cost of his treatment.

Samukeliso’s parents are not matches as donors for a bone marrow transplant and a search activation has commenced.

The Big Walk (5km) will start at 7am on Saturday morning, 28 November from the JWS car park, 30 Bamboo Lane, Pinetown, at a cost of R50 per entry or a donation towards the fund.

The school is hoping to draw attention to the urgent need for the community to step forward to register as donors.

For more information on how to become a donor, visit www.sunflowerfund.org.za or call its toll-free number – 0800 12 10 82.

John Wesley School is a registered non-profit organisation and non-government organiation.

All funds raised will go towards Samukeliso’s treatment.
