
HILLCREST Task Team police arrested a 41-year-old man for house robbery and the theft of a motor vehicle in Hillcrest.
The man allegedly sold two vehicles, a Toyota Fortuner and a VW Polo to a businessman and refused to hand over the log books for the vehicles. KZN police spokesman, Lt/Col Thulani Zwane said police were alerted about the incident and upon investigation, they discovered that a Fortuner was stolen during the house robbery in Morningside, and the Polo was stolen in Point Road, Durban. “The investigating officers for both cases were informed about the arrest and the recovery.”The man will be linked to the house robbery and theft of motor vehicle cases,” said Zwane.
He was charged for possession of suspected stolen property and was taken to Hillcrest police station for detention. He will appear at the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court soon.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa, applauded police on the arrest. “We encourage the community to continue working with police so that we can prevent criminal activities in our province and put criminals behind bars. The community must know that buying stolen property is a criminal offence,” he said.
