Embo elders receive Christmas goodies

This year, the Twinkle Star Foundation filled 133 20litre buckets with groceries.

THE Twinkle Star Foundation hosted a Christmas party for grannies and grandpas from the Embo community.

This year, they filled 133 20litre buckets with groceries.

This Christmas party was also held as a year end party for the 65 families that are part of the Twinkle Star Foundation soup kitchen.

The foundation was started by Hillcrest resident, Carol Schroeder in 2005 with a feeding project in 2005.

Carol used money from her own pocket to buy food for the elderly and started getting funding in 2011 when the foundation was registered.

Every Thursday, Carol and her husband take bread, soup and samp for the grannies, most whom look after their grandchildren.

Each granny and grandpa also received a pair of shoes as Christmas presents and were treated to lunch.

“Thank you to all our sponsors for donating to these amazing human beings. Thank you to my friends for the donation of shoes, Crouch Footwear, Labora Shoes, Palm Footwear and Robin Hood Foundation,” said Carol.
