KELLY Crous, a Grade 8 learner at St Mary’s DSG was selected to represent the South African swimming team at the CANA junior Africa championships in Cairo in March, earning her the title of the school’s SPAR Star of the Month.
Kelly is a committed and dedicated swimmer who fits in nine one-and-a-half hour training sessions each week under the tutelage of Olympic coach, Graham Hill, whom she has trained under for the last seven years. She will also compete in the SA junior nationals from 16 to 21 March, the SA senior nationals in Durban from 4 to 8 April as well as the SA schools from 9 to 13 April.
Kelly is not just a brilliant swimmer as she also ranked first in her age group in KZN last year for shot put. Working hard at school, her favourite subjects are art and geography and she aims to study overseas in America on a swimming scholarship at either the University of California or Arizona.
