THE Queensburgh Girls’ High (QGHS) Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) Club participated in the JSE investment challenge and made fruitful returns on its investment.
The Grade 10 learners had to group themselves into groups of four, buy shares, keep a close eye on the markets and how it affected their shares.

The two teams that participated in the challenge were placed fourth and fifth and both received R1000 for each participant as an investment.
Prize money was also given to the school and the club teacher.
The Moneymakers of QGHS who came out fourth said this challenge definitely made them think about money and investment and they would consider investing in the JSE again in future.
“The markets are interesting but a lot of research is required and is important when you want to be successful,” said team member, Tymera Amrapesad.
Team Gold G’$ had confidence that they will make more money in investing than they would in their careers one day and plan to start saving today.
“Wealth doesn’t come overnight, you have to work for it and investment is always a great back-up plan if things dont go well,” said Zina Nazer.
“The club has been a revolution in our school. The girls have been exposed to the world of finance at an early age to take up positions in the world of finance later on in their lives,” said school principal, Thiru Motheeram.
