BRIDGET Theunissen is Thomas More College’s high school SPAR Star of the Month.
“I knew the combination of competing almost every weekend in triathlon races around the country and being a Grade 11 learner was going to be a challenge, but I’ve somehow kept on top of everything though… so far,” said Bridget.
She recently raced in the Cape Town World Cup triathlon race where she finished first in the girl’s U19 school’s challenge.
The following weekend she was in Zimbabwe, and competed in the ATU African Cup.
“I was happy to have come away with another win,” she said.
One of the biggest races of the year for her was the SA triathlon champs in Bloemfontein.
“I managed a third place finish which guaranteed me to be chosen for the African Championships in Morocco. This is a qualifying event for the Youth Olympic Games which will be held later this year.
“Thomas More College has been very supportive in my endeavours around the country to compete, and I’d like to thank the school for helping me and giving me the opportunity to follow my dreams and do what I love,” said Bridget.
