Tshegofatso’s heart follows the rhythm

St Mary's DSG's primary school SPAR Star of the Month - October 2018.

ST Mary’s DSG’s Grade 5 learner, Tshegofatso Mphatswe, is a superb musician and is the school’s SPAR Star of the Month.

At this year’s eThekwini Eisteddfod, Tshego played piano and achieved four diamond certificates, three gold certificates and a gold medal. She also received a diamond certificate for her cello solo.

In May, the talented muso achieved 98 per cent for Trinity Piano Grade 1 exam and she also did well in the Queensburgh Festival earlier in the year, achieving one A, one A+ and three A++.

In 2017 Tshego passed her Trinity Piano Initial with 94 per cent (distinction), achieved Two A+ and one A++ at the Queensburgh Festival.

In the eThekwini Eisteddfod she received six diamond certificates (all over 90 per cent, including 100 per cent for sight reading).

Tshego is also an integral part of the St Mary’s Senior Primary choir, Junior African Musical Ensemble, Orchestra, Ukelele Club and regularly plays at student recitals and assemblies.

She is well-known as being kind, humble and a hard-working peer and would love to be a professional musician when she grows up.
