Hijacking suspects to appear in Pinetown Magistrate’s Court
The two suspects were arrested at their homes and were charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, carjacking and possession of suspected stolen property.
THREE suspects, aged between 20 and 35, who were arrested by Mariannhill SAPS, and found with three firearms with ammunition and a hijacked vehicle, will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
“Police officers received a report of a vehicle that was hijacked in Welbadacht on 10 January 2019. An intelligence operation was conducted at the KwaNdengezi policing precinct,” said KZN police spokesperson, Cpt Nqobile Gwala.
A suspect was found at his home, in Etsheni Road, with a pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition and vehicle keys.

“Police proceeded to another house on Khuphoni Road where another suspect was found in possession of a firearm.”
“The suspect was arrested at his homestead in the Sgumbuqwini area with a hijacked Toyota CHR and a shotgun in his possession. They were all taken to KwaNdengezi police station for detention,” she said.
It is alleged the recovered vehicle was hijacked from its owner in the Chatsworth policing area.
The suspects will be charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, carjacking and possession of suspected stolen property.
“These men will also be linked to a house robbery at Thornwood in the Mariannhill area where the victim was robbed of his belongings including a firearm, a few weeks ago,” she added.
