Laptop donation offers learners keys to opportunity

The 10 laptops will open up a whole new world for its learners to explore and reach out to.

ETHEMBENI School in Inchanga rang in the new year with a donation of 10 laptops for its learners.

The school, which focuses on learners who are physically disabled or visually impaired, is a member of the South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB).

Chris Budeli, the manager of education, social inclusion and development at the SANCB, said, “For blind people, computer technology is a means to communicate with the sighted world. The good thing is that this will allow learners to write their assignments and exams, even at a tertiary level.”

During the 2019 back-to-school week, members from correctional services (parolees, inmates and officers) also cut grass, painted the school’s hall and made a garden.
