Highway running club goes extra mile on Mandela Day

The running T-shirts were used to sew baby blankets which were donated to Baby Hope and Holah.

MEMBERS of the T and T Running Club did something different this year to give back on Mandela Day.

Tracey Phillips said they run from the Westville Country Club three times a week and their motto is ‘Run Clean, Run Green’ as they are passionate about recycling.

She said almost every week there is a race, “we get so many shirts till we do not know what to do with them.

“This year, we asked members to bring them in. Durban West Tourism supplied us with linen,” said Phillips.

The older members of the club sewed baby blankets using the running T-shirts, batting and the linen for two charities; Baby Hope and Holah.
