Seven armed robbers storm Malvern home

The men gained access to the Malvern home by jumping over the front gate.

A GANG of seven armed men broke into a home in Malvern on Friday morning and stole jewellery, cash and a television.

Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said, “A Malvern resident was fortunate to escape injury after a gang of seven armed suspects invaded her property.”

The incident occurred as she was preparing to leave for work.

“An employee saw the seven suspects, armed with firearms,  jumping over the front gate. They entered the house and demanded cash and jewellery,” he said.

The homeowner told the men the location of the safe.

The robbers cleaned out the safe and also stole a flat screen TV.

The robbers fled the scene, no shots were fired and no-one was injured during the incident.

Malvern SAPS is investigating.

In another incident, a man was injured during a car chase and shootout on Friday morning in Malvern.

“A Blue Security central tactical ambassador was patrolling in the Moseley area when he saw two speeding vehicles,” Mathios said.

The two vehicles were driving along the M7, towards the N2 and the tactical ambassador gave chase.

“The suspects turned into Fourth Avenue via Bellville Road. One of the occupants pointed a firearm at the tactical ambassador and a shootout ensued,” said Mathios.

The driver of one of the vehicles crashed into an embankment and was arrested by the tactical ambassador. The second vehicle sped off along Bedale Road.

“The suspect and the vehicle were handed over to members of Malvern SAPS and investigations are continuing,” he said.
