Educators reach out during pandemic

The team of educators from Kloof High School helped create online lessons for learners from Grade 10 to matric, across three subjects.

EIGHT of Kloof High School teachers joined DigiCampus for the Woza Matrics programme, a free initiative developed by the Department of Basic Education.

Woza Matrics was launched in early September and will provide all matrics with access to educational content for 12 weeks to support them in the build-up to their final examinations. Subjects that are covered include mathematics, life sciences, geography, physical science, accounting, economics, math literacy, English first additional language, history and business studies.

The subjects the local educators covered include history, life sciences and geography for learners from Grade 10 to matric.

Kloof High School educator, Jean-Paul Olivier, said, “When one becomes a teacher it is done through passion, so our whole purpose is giving back. With regards to the DigiCampus Project, it is just happening on a wider scale.”

The school’s principal, Rob Harding said Kloof High School was delighted to be part of the worthy initiative and be a benefit to the community.

DigiCampus’ English video library for matrics consists of more than 500 lessons and learners are able to access the rest of its extensive library via its website, www.digicampus.co.za, for free. This library includes lessons of all subjects from Grade R to 12 on the CAPS curriculum in four of South Africa’s official languages – English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, and Zulu.
