Help CROW care for 3-week-old baby water mongoose
The little pup was found wondering into someone's kitchen alone and will be hand-raised at CROW.

THE Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) is requesting for assistance from anyone who can help care for its newest admission, a sweet, three-week-old baby water mongoose.
CROW is an NGO based in Durban that rescues, rehabilitates and releases injured, orphaned or displaced wild animals.
CROW’s communications and marketing officer, Alexandra Koegl said water mongoose (also known as marsh mongoose) usually have two to three pups, and stay with their mother until they are weaned at a few months old.
“This defenceless little pup wandered into someone’s kitchen alone, so we can only assume something must have happened to its mom for it to have become separated from her,” said Koegl.
The little pup will be hand-raised at CROW.
“He is getting frequent Royal Canin kitten milk bottles (mongoose belong to the same family as cats) and lots of quiet time to help reduce stress,” she said.

In addition to making for heart-melting photos, that thick, soft fuzzy fur has practical uses. As their name suggests, water mongoose live and hunt in and around marshes and other bodies of water.
Their thick coats insulate them against cold water and their sharp non-retractable claws ensure they can crack open even hard crab shell. They can even become fully submerged and hold their breath for a short while.
If you would like to contribute to the care of this little mongoose, you can use the following banking details with the reference “water mongoose”.
