Taxi-truck crash leaves one entrapped and 15 injured

A collision between a taxi and truck in Inchanga left 15 people injured.

ONE person was entrapped and 15 injured in a vehicle after a taxi and a truck collided on the D1004 Road in Inchanga on Monday Morning. 

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics responded to numerous calls for assistance and were informed there were multiple casualties with entrapments on the scene.

“First responders arrived and found that multiple people were injured with one person severely entrapped in the truck. A Triage system was set up whilst more ambulances were mobile to assist.

“Due to the severity of the one patient’s condition and being entrapped, the Air Mercy Aeromedical Helicopter was called for assistance. Approximately 15 people from both vehicles had sustained various injuries and once stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required,” he said.

Jamieson said the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
