Water supply interruption scheduled for Pinetown and surrounding areas

Residents in Pinetown and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for a planned water shutdown on Sunday, April 13, for a critical infrastructure upgrade.

THE eThekwini Municipality has issued a public notice regarding a planned water supply interruption that will affect several areas in Pinetown and its surroundings on Sunday, April 13.

According to the City, the interruption is scheduled to begin at 8:00, when the Water and Sanitation Unit will shut down the main water reticulation system along Stapleton Road in Pinetown. This is to allow for essential modifications to the existing water infrastructure to accommodate a contractor who will install a stormwater culvert.

“During the shutdown, there will be no water supply to affected households. The maintenance work is expected to be completed by 18:00 on the same day. Once completed, the team will begin recharging the water lines to build up the required pressure — a process that may take several hours before normal supply resumes,” stated the City.

The affected areas include:

  • Sarnia
  • Cowies Hill
  • Hatton Estate
  • Farningham Ridge
  • Moseley Park
  • Part of Underwood Road
  • Paradise Valley
