Malone Road rehabilitation reprioritised

The City says works are currently ongoing on site, and the asphalt paving is anticipated to be completed soon.

FOLLOWING complaints from road users and members of the public about the state of neglect that Malone Road in Pinetown had been left in when road works seemed to have stalled for weeks, the eThekwini Municipality said its rehabilitation “has been reprioritised”.

Gripes raised included that roadworks that had been left incomplete caused an inconvenience, in particular, because this is an industrial area.

The municipality’s marketing and communications director Mandla Nsele said the rehabilitation of the road “has been reprioritised for implementation in the current 2025/2026 financial year”.

“The works are currently ongoing on site, and the asphalt paving is anticipated to be completed soon.

“The City wishes to apologise to all road users for any inconvenience caused,” said Nsele.
