A SUSPECT who was wanted for murder was shot and fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police in Mariannhill in the early hours of Wednesday (July 1) morning.

KZN SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said police had received information about the suspect’s whereabouts and proceeded to his hideout spot in the Luganda area in Mariannhill.

“When police arrived, a shoot-out ensued between the suspect and police. The suspect was shot and fatally wounded during the shoot-out. No police officer was injuring during the shoot-out,” said Netshiunda.

He added that the suspect was linked to two murders which he allegedly committed in the Mpumalanga township of Hammarsdale in December 2021 and June 2026.
