Not many people will know that Dunlop officially began operations in Durban, South Africa, in 1935. It was thus only fitting for Durban to house the first-ever corporate-owned retail store, Dunlop Westville! This store also houses the Sumitomo Rubber South Africa (SRSA) Durban technical department as well as a retail training facility.
Run by manger and retail specialist Lee Anderson and supported by sales consultants Dale Ross and Dylan Payne, Dunlop Westville offers a full range of premium Tyre brands, wheels, shock absorbers, brakes, batteries, wiper blades and automotive accessories. Services include, wheel balancing and wheel alignment, nitrogen Tyre inflation and vehicle diagnostics.
“Our aim is to showcase what best-in-class should look and feel like within the automotive retail space. We boast a fully functioning coffee shop with a variety of hot and cold drinks on offer. A fun KidsZone, with dedicated kids TV as well as a kid’s library to ensure that the kiddies are well entertained should they be with you when visiting Dunlop Westville,” said Lee.
Local business support is important to SRSA, with some key partnerships already underway. Patrons to Dunlop Westville will soon be able to enjoy meals from local restaurants that surround the store. The in-store barrister is a separate business entity, giving up-and-coming entrepreneurs an opportunity to grow their brand.
