Master tax practitioner
Better known as T, Teresa Seaton is a hardworking go-getter who has a list of qualifications as long as your arm.
Although she is a Master Tax Practitioner; Chartered Tax Advisor; Professional Accountant; Consultant; Moderator; Trainer and Facilitator, she prioritises in investing in local and small independent businesses who have especially been hit by the pandemic and as a result, are struggling to keep afloat.
“Supporting a local business or shop, is a great way to support them both financially and figuratively by showing you love what they do. This means they’ll be able to continue doing the great work that they do. Supporting local means we are contributing to strengthen our local economy, lower taxes, create more jobs, reduce crime and improve infrastructure.”
T, started her own local tax business after 12 years of working in various SARS departments. She was also involved in compiling tax presentations material and assisted SARS Head Office in compiling lecture materials on new legislation to ensure that all staff country wide is trained in their field of expertise.
“I opened Worldwide Tax Solutions on 1 January 2004 working in our dining room with merely a desk, chair and stationery. I had one client on the books. The word spread specifically throughout the expatriate and local industry, and we started growing fast. We felt that there was a demand in the tax industry specifically in the expatriate side (South Africans working abroad) as I was involved in intense training of this section in SARS.”
Teresa went on to study a Master’s of Science in Taxation at the University of New South Wales in Australia to have an international tax qualification.
“This I completed in 2010 and I am a qualified registered professional accountant and Master Tax Practitioner.”
Her business handles all company books from small to medium size companies, drafting annual financial statements and monthly management accounts – including payroll, VAT, UIF, workmen’s compensation, business planning, business valuations, business structures, tax return completions for individuals and tax consulting for individuals and companies.
Teresa’s business advice to others: “Be passionate, do everything with integrity, have a service of eminence, be committed to going the extra mile and write a business plan. It’s our job to make every client experience excellence in customer service.”
