Kloof Memorial Park boards get uplift

The Parks Department has erected stunning new displays at Memorial Park.

THE information boards in Memorial Park were recently upgraded, and stunning new displays have been erected.

The upgrade comes after the original boards, which were installed in 2011, had deteriorated and needed improving.

The Kloof Conservancy approached the Parks Department who agreed to a new set of boards being installed to add value and provide interesting information for visitors.

Paolo Candotti, chairman of the Kloof Conservancy, said the boards cover the history of Kloof and Memorial Park and include features on the habitats and the flora and fauna that can be found in the park.

“The text for the boards was prepared in partnership with well-known species experts, Steve Woodhall and Jeanne Tarrant.”

Candotti said Memorial Park is one of the most popular parks in the eThekwini Municipality and has a regular stream of daily visitors.

“The park is managed and maintained by eThekwini Parks Department, and Kloof Conservancy provides support to help improve the park and make it visitor-friendly,” he said.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
