Embo crèche gets refurbishment

After six months of planning, fundraising and working on site at Mbalenhle Creche, Hearts in Hands, along with some valued donors and supporters, hosted a little picnic party with some excited children to celebrate the completion of the refurbishment.

THE refurbishment of Mbalenhle Crèche in Embo by Heart in Hands NPO will ensure that the children get ready for school in a beautifully learner-friendly environment.

The completion of the crèche was celebrated with a small picnic party with excited little scholars, along with some donors and supporters.

This comes after six months of planning, fundraising and working on-site.

An excited principal, Nokulunga Mkhize, said that the crèche was started in 2010 by Bella Mkhize after seeing the need for one in the area as most children are only introduced to a schooling environment when they start primary school.

“She handed the crèche to me as her health was deteriorated due to age. She’d looked after the children at her home before finding this site. The refurbishment of the building we were using will encourage children to enjoy coming to school and parents to enrol their children,” she said.

Founder of Hearts in Hands Tracy Klokie with Mbalenhle Crèche principal Nokuthula Mkhize celebrate the refurbishment of the crèche.

The revamp included the complete overhaul of the interior and exterior of the building as well as the installation of a new playground area for the children that attend the crèche.

This was completed with a bright and beautiful mural by local artist Giffy.

Founder of Hearts in Hands Tracy Klokie said their hearts are filled with immense gratitude to every single person, company and organisation that got involved with this project to help us make a difference in this community at this crèche.

“Every rand, every tree, every toy received has all contributed to breathing new life into this ECD centre and will make an impact for years to come in this community.”

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
