Family hosts blood drive in honour of daughter

A blood drive will be held at Watercrest Mall to celebrate the life of Jadasia Narasimulu who died on her 25th birthday, December 21, 2023.

LIFE can change in a moment as it was the case for Jadasia Narasimulu when she was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in 2022, just before her 24th birthday.

“Through her fighting spirit, God’s grace, best medical care available and generous blood donations, we were gifted an additional 13 months with our precious Jadasia, after this diagnosis. Tragically Jadasia passed on December 21, 2023, on the morning of her 25th birthday,” said her mother, Mala Kishuna.

Jadasia was born at Westville Hospital in 1998. She was the eldest child. She matriculated from St. Johns Diocesan School for Girls in Pietermaritzburg in 2016, with seven distinctions. Jadasia was awarded a bursary from the University of Stellenbosch to study for a B.Com. Actuarial Science Degree. She received an academic prize in 2020 for Business Finance.

Give the gift of life

To honour their courageous warrior, her family invite the public to join a memorial blood drive and to give the gift of life.

“We are aiming to donate a minimum of 26 pints of blood, on December 21 which symbolically represents Jadasia’s 26th birthday. So whether you join us in person or remotely, please help us make a profound difference and save lives, in celebration of Jadasia,” said Kishuna.

The drive will be held at Watercrest Mall from 09:00 to 14:00.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
