Hillcrest scouts leader passes on leadership torch

Steve Camp who is stepping down as the chairman of the 1st Hillcrest Scout and Guide Group handed over a book on the 60-year history of the scout group to incoming chairman John Moll.

AFTER 13 years of dedicated leadership, Steve Camp is stepping down as chairman of the 1st Hillcrest Scout and Guide Group and passing the torch to incoming chairman John Moll.

Camp has been a guiding force for the group, overseeing its growth, supporting young scouts and guides and ensuring the continued success of the local movement.

Reflecting on his time as chairman, he shared, “It has been an incredible journey. Seeing young people develop in confidence, skills and friendships through scouting has been truly rewarding. I am grateful for the support of the leaders, parents and the wider community.”

Moll, who has only recently been involved with the group, shared his excitement for the journey ahead.

“Scouting today offers young people invaluable skills and values that are more important than ever in our society.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and to helping shape the next generation in our community through the experiences and opportunities scouting and guiding provides.”

The handover was marked by a ceremony at the group’s headquarters, where Camp was thanked for his years of service and presented with a token of appreciation.
