Shongweni pre-school requires donations for expansion
The NPO has been in operation since 2007 and last year moved to the Shongweni area because there was no creche or pre-school in the area.
A PRE-SCHOOL in lower Shongweni is pleading for donors to extend a helping hand with donations for their newly formed branch in the area.
Thembelihle Mncwango of Zikwanele House of Hope Crèche in the Shongweni Dam area of Ewawa said their NPO requires help to meet its objectives of providing edu-care and a feeding scheme for children in the area.
The NPO has been in operation since 2007 and last year moved to the Shongweni area, which has seen its number of children swell to 33, said Mncwango.
There was no creche or pre-school in lower Shongweni until Mncwango opened up in June last year, with seven children.

“Heather Partner has been helping us to find sponsors of which we did find the Lee couple that donated a 10 x 10 log cabin which we will use as a classroom. We are still looking for assistance with our wish list which includes children’s educational items and a fence,” said Mncwango.
Mncwango said the generosity of the Lee couple, Chris and Noelle, has provided much needed assistance to the NPO and its newly established crèche.
Partner is from the NPO Making a Difference (MAD) and said this donation from the Lees is one of triumph after the two NPOs fell victim to a scam which cost them “all their savings”.
Partner said this unfortunate event arose as the NPOs sought to purchase a wendy house for the expansion of the pre-school.

“Initially we were totally devastated by the scam but we vowed not to be beaten and managed to secure a sponsorship of a beautiful log cabin which will serve as a classroom for the 20 pre-schoolers and leave space for the crèche babies in the existing one, which is a rondavel,” said Partner.
Mncwango described Partner as an active, selfless community member who has tirelessly worked in the Shongweni area for years, helping with the rebuilding of houses destroyed in the floods, feeding and innoculating dogs, caring for the aged, and supplying food and educational materials to the local crèches and pre-schools.
