Proteas stop in Durbs to celebrate historic win

Durban was the third stop for the Proteas as they head to six cities across South Africa to celebrate the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

THE Proteas Men’s team were in Durban on Heritage Day (September 24) to celebrate their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) win with fans.

Not even the rain could keep away die-hard cricket fans who showed up in numbers at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.

The Proteas lifted the coveted Test Mace after they defeated Australia by five wickets in the final at Lord’s, England, in June this year.

The triumph meant that South Africa ended a 27-year wait, or 9722 days to be exact, for ICC success, as this was the first senior men’s trophy since the 1998 ICC Knockout victory.
