Pinetown church hosts annual fundraiser

NG Kerk Pinetown hosts its annual fundraiser offering family fun, food, crafts, and entertainment to support local community projects.

THE NG Kerk Pinetown Congregation invites the public to support their annual fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, from 09:00 to 14:00.

Located on the corner of St Johns and Bamboo Lane, the church is well known for its distinctive clock topped with a rooster, a familiar landmark that has helped locals keep time for many years.

Founded on September 20, 1946, NG Kerk Pinetown is one of the oldest churches in the area.

“Its facilities serve as a hub for various community groups and activities throughout the year,” said Adrie O’Rilley from the church.

She highlighted that this fundraiser is the congregation’s biggest event of the year and is vital for keeping the church’s operations running smoothly.

“The money raised will help us with our social service projects where we assist families in need,” said O’Rilley.

Event organiser Bronwyn Philander shared that the day promises fun for the whole family: “There will be face painting, jumping castles, a mime artist, and plenty of entertainment.

“Visitors can also enjoy delicious food, browse homemade crafts, and find great bargains on second-hand clothing,”
said Philander.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
