From music, festivals and markets - Durban has it all in the upcoming week to keep you and your loved ones entertained.

Get ready for an unforgettable experience in Durban over the next few days. From concerts, iconic hits from Neil Diamond to The Beatles, outdoor activities, markets, art festivals, and family fun, there’s something for everyone.

Summer season

The KZN Philharmonic’s two-concert 2026 Summer Season runs in The Playhouse Opera on Thursday, March 5 and Thursday, March 12. Both shows will start at 19:00.

Japanese conductor Yasuo Shinozaki conducts the first concert of the season with a juxtaposed bill of French, English and Austrian crowd-pleasers. Soloist is Canadian cello prodigy Bryan Cheng.

Widely acclaimed Conrad van Alphen takes the podium for the second and closing concert of the season, conducting a repertoire by Fauré, Chopin and Beethoven. Bulgarian pianist Ludmil Angelov is the soloist.

As always, the KZNPO season forms an intrinsic part of the orchestra’s ongoing school visits, community engagement, and skills transfer programmes, all geared towards reaching out to new-generation artists and audiences alike.

Enjoy the outdoors

An Esoteric Fair hosted by The Celestine Circle will be held at the Watervale Lodge in Inchanga on Sunday, March 8 from 10:00 to 15:00. There will be talks, healers, readers, interesting stalls, and food and drink on sale.

Get creative at art festival

The Roseway Waldorf Arts Festival is happening on Saturday, March 7, 10:00-15:00, at Roseway Waldorf School in Alverstone. Enjoy food, art, and performances by local schools. Win prizes, including a gallery spot at KZNSA, and watch live art creation by Iain ‘Ewok’ Robinson.

Get bargains galore at market

The Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market takes place on Saturdays with the next one set for March 7 from 07:00 until 13:00.

The market is a space for the whole family to enjoy and spend time together (pets included!).

There are a number of activities and the market is open rain or shine as it is all undercover and fully wheelchair accessible.

Strings and keys

Get ready for a toe-tapping good time. Barry Thomson and Dawn Selby are bringing their Strings & Keys show at the Rhumbelow Theatre, 42 Cunningham Road off Bartle Road, Durban.

Catch them on Saturday, March 7 at 19:30 or Sunday, March 8 at 14:00. Tickets are R200. Included in the repertoire are songs from Neil Diamond, Bad Company, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Rodriguez, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers, Travelling Wilburys and The Beatles.
