Watch: Pipe burst causes flooding and sinkhole in Cowies Hill
The burst pipe in McBean Road, Cowies Hill, has caused a massive sinkhole in the area, cut off access, and left residents without water.
COWIES Hill residents woke to rushing water early this morning (September 22) after a main water pipe feeding the lower part of Pinetown burst in McBean Road.
The burst, which happened at around 04:00, caused extensive flooding and a large sinkhole.
Access to the McBean Road area has been restricted due to the damage.

In video footage shared by Marshall Security’s Andreas Mathios water can be seen gushing through gates and driveways, lifting tar and brick paving, and washing mud and debris into the road.
It was reported that the same pipe has burst before, and residents said they are frustrated to be without water again.
According to Mathios a few residents were temporarily stuck inside their properties due to the flooding and damaged roadway.
