World Club ProAm returns to Cotswold Downs
Tournament spokesman, Craig Clay-Smith, said he was thrilled to have Cotswold Downs Golf Club back on board as one of the five host courses for the tournament’s second consecutive year.
ROUND three of the PGA of SA/Mercedes Benz World Club ProAm, played in KZN from 14 to 21 February, teed off for the second consecutive year at Cotswold Downs Golf Estate, where local and international PGA professionals and amateurs got into full swing as they battled it out for top spot on the leader board.
Among the 32 competing teams was the team from Cotswold Downs Golf Club, led by PGA professional, Christo Roos, and three amateurs, Clayton Ackerman, Neil Larter and Gary Weddell. At the end of five rounds of fiercely competitive golf they finished 24th, tied with Omeya Golf Club from Namibia, on 391 points.
Tournament spokesman, Craig Clay-Smith, said: “We were thrilled to have Cotswold Downs Golf Club back on board as one of our five host courses for the tournament’s second consecutive year. The golfers thoroughly enjoyed putting their skills to the test as they tackled the challenges of this course in round three.
“The accolades that the tournament has received and the endorsement from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism as a foremost tournament promoting golf tourism for KwaZulu-Natal are huge achievements in our second year. We look forward to the enormous potential that awaits us as we continue to develop the World Club ProAm into the premier club championship on the PGA international golfing calendar,” said Clay-Smith.
