Tennis club invites new members

Pinelands Tennis Club invites you to join.

PINELANDS Tennis Club, which has been in existence since the 1950s, is looking for new members to join them.

The tennis club is located at the intersection of Merrifield and Collins Roads in Pinelands, and has four courts in a residential setting with a clubhouse, and participates in all the Durban tennis leagues, entering teams into the men’s, women’s, mixed and over 40s events.

The committee organises the occasional social tournaments for members between leagues. The main club day is on Saturday afternoons with members arriving from 1.30pm onwards until the end of the afternoon, when social games are organised.

There is also a mid-week club, which plays on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

The club’s chairman, Rob Wilson, said the best way to join is to go and play as a visitor on Saturday or mid-week.

Tennis enthusiasts who are interested in joining can follow the club’s registration process.

Wilson said for people who don’t want to join the main club but would just like to play tennis with their friends and families, an annual court hire option is available.

“Those registering for this are given a key so that they can access the courts at a time convenient to them,” he said.
