Kearsney nets 13 point win

KEARSNEY College celebrated a basketball win against Michaelhouse at the weekend.
Kearsney travelled to Michaelhouse where the home team took advantage of their strong vocal support.
Despite Kearsney scoring first, Michaelhouse were able to build a 19-11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Kearsney didn’t seem able to get going, but started finding some rhythm in the second quarter, scoring 19 points and limiting their opposition to 13.
Michaelhouse looked like the more settled and comfortable team, however, and at the change of ends led 32-30.
The third quarter proved decisive with Kearsney scoring easily while only giving Michaelhouse one shot which they converted (14 – 2).
Kearsney went into the lead 44-34. Much of the fourth quarter was poor from both teams, but Kearsney held on to their 10-point lead.
Kearsney won the game 59-46.
While this was their poorest game of the season, they did enough to come from behind and add a valuable, away victory to their record.
Senior players used their experience to grind out this difficult victory; showing junior players how much work was needed to raise the standard of their game to make a meaningful contribution going forward.
