Thirds smash their way to victory

The Land Rover Durban/Envirosan Hillcrest Villagers' third XV made a comeback after their loss against Toti last week.

LAND Rover Durban/Envirosan – Hillcrest Villagers’ Rugby Club’s 3rd XV took on the Westville Old Boys’ Rugby Club last Thursday night at home.

The KZNRU 4th division fixture, held on a glorious autumn evening, was well attended by supporters from both clubs.

The match was played in good spirit and clubmanship. Following their narrow defeat a week ago to the Toti Rugby Club, the Villagers were well prepared and dominated much of the game. There were big hits from both sides but the final score went the way of Hillcrest with a 36 – 5 win. Man of the Match was awarded to Brian Lewis (forwards) and Cliffy Bridge (backline).

The Villagers’ 3rds will play the Crusaders Rugby Club at the Durban Shongweni Club on this Thursday night at 7pm. The Villagers’ 1sts and 2nds will play their next match at the Woodburn Stadium in Pietermaritzburg against the PMB Collegians Rugby Club on Friday night at 7pm.
