Help learners excel at international champs
Four of the teams from Kloof High School were invited to compete at the World Scholar's Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University.
FOUR teams from Kloof High School participated in the second round of the World Scholar’s Cup in Melbourne, Australia and qualified to take part in the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University in November.
The four teams representing local school were able to contribute to the strength, spirit and diversity of the largest season in WSC history.
They competed against more than
2 000 elite scholars from more than 25 different countries.
“Kloof High School was one of only two schools representing South Africa in this global round and they certainly made us proud. Our junior team was placed 5th in the region of Africa and one of our senior teams was placed 2nd in the region of Africa as well as 77th overall in the senior division. An incredible feat considering the magnitude of the event as well as this being our first year participating in the competition,” said the school’s principal, Dawn Lefort.
“Every learner also received individual gold or silver honour medals for their personal achievements in either debate, essay writing or their subject knowledge of the curriculum set for this year.
“This incredible experience was undoubtedly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity which our learners will never forget! We are extremely grateful to all who contributed by way of sponsorship and support. Without the generosity of so many this venture would not have been possible,” said Lefort.
The learners hope to compete in the upcoming event at Yale University. To make a donation towards their trip, contact the school on 031 764 0451.
