Highway locals serve up sporting feast
The Highway Squash Summer League is currently in full swing at four club's in the area.
THE Highway Squash Summer League kicked off recently across four venues as more than 160 athletes participated alongside a group of avid reserves.
The social tournament’s format is mixed-strength teams of five and the games are hosted each week at the Westville Country Club, The Kloof Country Club, Kearsney College and the Gillitts Sports Club.
Entries open up at the beginning of January and the available slots are filled within a few days.

“It’s really good for beginners to the sport, and then there are also first division players. There are quite a few families where mom and dad and their kids team up. Our youngest players are about 12 years old and our eldest player is 81,” said the event organiser, Andy Torr.
Once the games are complete, the teams converge at the Kloof Country Club for dinner.
“It’s a warm up before the winter league starts and a way for new players to get a feel for the game,” said Andy.
