Jazz pianist, Andile Yenana returns to various Durban venues

JAZZ fans are in for a treat, when celebrated jazz pianist, Andile Yenana, performs at venues and schools throughout KZN from 26 February to 2 March. He returns to Durban, where he studied. This tour is supported by Concerts SA.

Andile has collaborated with many well-known South African and international artists – deliberately seeking to work with interesting performers, including a long association with the late and legendary Zim Ngqawana, as well as working as arranger for the likes of Sibongile Khumalo, Gloria Bosman and Suthukazi Arosi.

Originally from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape and now Johannesburg-based, Andile Yenana has performed around the world including the Royal Albert Hall and the Nantes Fin de Siecle Festival in France.

He has two albums to his name, the first released in 2003 named We Used to Dance followed by an edgier contribution, Who’s Got The Map? released in 2004.

He also won the SAMA award as Best Producer for his work on Abantwana be Afrika with Winston Mankunku Ngozi.

For this blitz tour of KZN, Andile will share the stage with KZN musicians, Leon Scharnick on tenor saxophone; Sazi Dlamini on guitar; versatile bassist Prince Bulo and Kgosietsile Paki Peloeolo on drums.

Andile will perform at the KZNSA Gallery in Glenwood on Friday 28 February at 7pm, then in Pietermaritzburg at the Tatham Gallery on Saturday 1 March at 2pm with the final performance at the Rainbow Restaurant in Pinetown on Sunday 2 March at 1pm.
