Celestial folk duo at the Barnyard
Local folk rock duo Connecting Stars to launch CD at Barnyard this month.
CONNECTING Stars, a South Africa folk rock duo, featuring Cheryl and Martin Engel, will perform at their album launch concert at Barnyard Theatre, Gateway, on Monday 24 March at 7pm.
Guest artists on the night include John Ellis, Rowan Stuart, Nibs van der Spuy and Tresor.
Officially formed in 2012, Connecting Stars has already forged a welcome melodic sound, combining the sweetness of blended vocal harmony with a down home acoustic atmosphere. Acoustic guitar, piano and haunting melody form the backbone of the experience, along with glockenspiel, ukelele, harmonica and mandolin.
With a storied history in the South African music scene, both have been singing and playing together and separately, on stage and in the studio, for the past 10 years.
Cheryl is a veteran studio session singer and Martin was formerly both the manager and bass player of the award-winning rock band, Tree63.
Tickets are R80. Pre-booking is essential. Book through www.connectingstars.co.za or 031 262 9372 or email info@connectingstars.co.za
