HILLCREST Conservancy is offering an intensive morning’s environmental training course to assist and uplift your gardener’s skills base at Springside Nature Reserve in Hillcrest on Friday, 27 May. THE inaugural Land Rover Durban HighGoal takes place at the Durban Shongweni Club from Friday, 27 to Sunday, 29 May. The event will see some of the highest-rated polocrosse players putting on a spectacular equestrian display in six to seven games daily. There will be eight teams competing for the top spot – four men’s and four women’s teams – consisting of six quality players each. Each competitor in polocrosse is given a handicap which indicates his or her skill level, ranging from 0 to 10, with 10 being one of the best in the world and 0 a beginner.
SOUTH African Writers’ Circle will hold a one-day seminar on romance writing for all interested writers and aspiring writers at Augusta Estate, Hillcrest on Saturday, 28 May at 8.30am. Joss Wood, official writer for Mills and Boon (Penguin and Tule) will be the keynote speaker. Cost is R180 each and includes lunch and tea. THERE will be a model railway exhibition at the Westville Civic Centre from Saturday, 28 to Sunday, 29 May. Doors open from 9.30am to 4pm on the Saturday and from 9.30am to 3pm on the Sunday. Entrance is R50 for each adult, R30 for children and pensioners and R120 per family of four.
