Indulge in a blast of culture at Hilton festival

There is an extensive comedy line-up featuring the talents of John Vlismas, Rob van Vuuren, Aaron McIlroy, James Cairns, Jem Atkins and Masood Boomgaard.

TO experience the crème-de-la-crème of what is hot and happening in the creative industries in South Africa, attend this year’s Hilton Arts Festival.

The festival includes theatre; dance; comedy; musical theatre; family theatre; classical music; music revue; band-music; visual art and crafts, as well as a series of mind-scape lectures, events and discussions.

In honour of Mandela’s centenary commemorations, the three-day event has a strong Mandela feel and two massive outdoor exhibitions.

Crazy Funny at the Hilton Arts Festival features comedy icon, the inimitable and ascerbic John Vlismas.

Productions include international award-winning South African playwright, Mike van Graan’s brilliant drama, Green Man Flashing, a fast-paced political thriller written in a filmic style and features an all star cast.

An extensive musical theatre line-up of legends sych as Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, the Rat Pack, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen and Miriam Makeba.

Other musical concerts include Classic Blast presented by the KZN Youth Orchestra and The Drakensberg Boys Choir in Concert.

There is a strong art feel this year. 100 artists’ work will be on display all around the festival grounds.

The festival takes place at Hilton College from 14 to 16 September.
