Follow the Charles Laird yard today

Laird has opted for 2.50kg claiming Diego De Gouveia for his charge, the filly Lucky Barb in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1000m.

Trainer Charles Laird tends to run his horses only when they have a winning chance so it could be the yard worth following at Scottsville today.

The best value of his runners could be Dance City Queen in the lucky last race but he has other runners who can win.

Jockey Anton Marcus is carded to ride his first runner, the unraced Querari gelding Geste in a Maiden Plate over 1400m.

Having put the blinkers up on this his debut suggests the two-year-old is well tried at home.

The two to beat in this race, however are Captain At Sea and Gregorian Chant who have done well without winning so far.

Laird’s Dynasty filly Dusk Queen was only fifth on debut this month but is sure to be smarter this time with Marcus up and the 1400m trip of Race 2, a Maiden Plate will suit her better.

Intercept and Night At The Proms will both not go down without a fight though.

Laird has opted for 2.50kg claiming Diego De Gouveia for his charge, the filly Lucky Barb in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1000m.

This filly disappointed last time out after showing promise in her first two starts.

The drop in distance back to 1000m will suit Lucky Barb and she should go close.

But while Laird may appear to have a good hand, the best bet and banker bet for this meeting should be the Marcus-ridden and Geoff Woodruff-trained Warm Night Alice in Race 4.

This filly looked a winner in waiting when runner-up on debut.

A Pick 6 Megapool will start with Race 3 at 1.50pm. There is a R400’000 carryover and a likely pool if R2,1- million.
