Alan Greeff-trained Beataboutthebush made light of 62kg on the Fairview Polytrack in her last two outings and should be up to the task again when carrying the same weight with Greg Cheyne up at the venue today in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes (F&M) over 1600m.
This filly, who has been unplaced only twice in her 16 starts, had Aldo Domeyer aboard in her penultimate run when she came from near last to score by an increasing 0.75 lengths in a 1300m Pinnacle Stakes – and that was despite having the worst draw.
Partnered by Cheyne in her subsequent outing and sent off favourite again, she ran on stoutly to record her seventh career win fluently in a 1600m MR 94 Handicap. The four-year-old, who is the top-rated horse in the race, has a bright chance to complete the Polytrack hat-trick when taking on fillies and mares once again.
Expect bold bid from seven-time winner Peach Delight out of Yvette Bremner’s stable with champion apprentice Lyle Hewitson up. Coming off a three-month layoff, this mare was a creditable one-length third to Beatabouttthebush at level weights in the previously mentioned 1300m Pinnacle Stakes.
The six-year-old was not disgraced in her subsequent outing when competing against male opposition and running on gamely to finish a 2.5-length fifth out of 14 in the 1400m Poly Challenge. Receiving 1kg from Beataboutthebush and racing over 1600m this time, she rates a definite threat.
Also to be respected is two-time winner Tiffindell out of the stable of national log leader Justin Snaith with Robert Khathi up. This four-year-old was in need of the run last time when coming off a rest and finishing fourth in an 1800m Pinnacle Stakes on grass at Fairview. The filly is no stranger to the Polytrack as her last run here was five runs back when a gutsy winner over 2200m.
Next best are Red Granite and Smokey Affair.
