Hat-trick for Rustic Romance

Rustic Romance looks to be the only stand-out bet on a competitive-looking card on the Fairview Polytrack today.

She lines up in Race 4, a Graduation Plate for fillies over 1600m. This Gavin Smith trained filly has won both her starts and they were on this surface.

Clearly this St Petersburg filly has ability as she beat subsequent winner Arabica over 1300m on debut then followed up with a solid albeit only half-length winner over Vanishing Sails over 1400m.

The step up in trip should suit and although she is drawn in the deepest draw of Stall No 10 it should not be a problem unless her rider is forced to drop her out. Juan Paul van der Merwe rides this time.

Jockey Karl Zechner continues to have regular winners and was aboard Rustic Romance for both wins but will be aboard Galaxy Gold this time around so she has to be respected but is not well weighted.

Taipai Tigress likes this track and runs well for jockey Muzi Yeni and looks the one most likely to provide a challenge to Rustic Romance.

Foam Party has fair recent form but if the handicapper has done his sums correctly she needs to more to win this.

Earlier on in the day it may be worth taking an each-way bet on the Mitch Wiese trained Luna Bella in Race 1.

This filly showed good pace on her debut and if she repeats that on the Polytrack this shorter trip should suit and in her favour is the form horses have to deal with wide draws.
