Going bling for a good cause

Police officers from the Krugersdorp Cluster got together in support of people with disabilities.

With a dash of bling mixed with excitement is how police officers from the Krugersdorp Cluster showed their support for persons with disabilities.

The fun run/ walk event of 10km started at President Hyper and ended at Cedar Lodge in Chancliff.

Tony da Silva, general manager of President Hyper says they are delighted to be part of this event.

“It is the fifth year that we are working with the police as we see Casual Day as an excellent community initiative. If we can make a contribution to the community this way we are more than happy to give our support.”

Every participant was treated to refreshments before the race officially started at 9am.

Five water points were set up at two-kilometre intervals. Da Silva says the weather contributed to the success of the day.

“This is the best weather that we have had since we became involved in the event.”

Tshepiso Mashale, Krugersorp Police spokesperson says she will be running the entire route.

“I am a runner and am really excited to be part of the event. Everyone decided to get something to match this year’s theme of bling and glitz.”

The Community Policing Forum as well as other municipal and governmental departments gave their support to this event.

Brigadier Dilapkimar Baijnath, Krugersdorp station commander says that the event would not have been a success without the help of everyone involved.
