Tickets selling fast for West Rand’s biggest show

“There are so many things to see and do, many people visit the show more than once.”

Tickets to the highly anticipated Randfontein Show are selling like hot cakes.

From Wednesday 4 March to Sunday 8 March at the Greenhills Sport Stadium in Randfontein ticket holders will experience the West Rand’s biggest business and social extravaganza as the Randfontein Show kicks off for the 29th consecutive year.

Big names like The Parlotones, Juanita du Plessis, Elvis Blue, Karlien van Jaarsveld and Blackbyrd will grace the show’s main stage.

“This event is all about fun, food and entertainment,” said show coordinator Marcelle Mans.

“It’s value for money and caters for the whole family.”

Exhibitors and visitors from all over the country flock to Randfontein each year to enjoy what is fondly known as Die Lekkerste Kuierskou. With over 400 stalls, top-class live entertainment, cooking demos, wine and beer gardens, and a host of displays and competitions, the Randfontein Show is the place to be.

“We have extended trading to include a Sunday, making it easier for families to enjoy the variety of entertainment on offer,” says Marcelle.

“There are so many things to see and do, many people visit the show more than once.”

Take a trip in a Monster Truck or get your adrenalin pumping on one of the exhilarating funfair rides, watch cooking demos, participate in a pancake race or Custom and Muscle Cars Show & Shine competition, and watch the chainsaw log-cutting or tug-of-war competitions.

Enjoy old favourites like the WWP Wrestling Extravaganza, a Boerboel Show, Women’s World Day of Prayer, camel rides, shooting tunnel, bungee bounce, water balls and go-carts.

The new Ware Wingerd Deli and Plaaskombuis in the Show Hall is bound to be a favourite with their bobotie, rusks, mosbolletjies, milk tart, koeksisters, ginger beer, and canned fruit and vegetables.

Also in the Show Hall, Kokkedore food demonstrations with Tiaan and Mynhardt, the winners of the first kykNET Kokkedoor competition. On Saturday 7 March they will be making and serving a chickpea and mint salad, slow-roasted kudu with red wine and chocolate sauce, with milk tart for desert. Sunday’s menu starts off with aubergine and pomegranate salad, followed by lamb roll with puff pastry and ended off with erfenispoeding.

In the Kuierskuur show visitors can dance along with the music by over 40 acts including country legend Lance James and friends, Doringdraad Comedy Act, Linda Kilian, Kannie Warries Dans Orkes, Estanislau, Cordelia, Gert Koevert and band, Dirk van der Westhuizen, Jasmyn, Jennifer Zamudio, Frail Minds and Band, CJB Jnr.

“The cheerleading and pom-pom competition is going to be a battle of the giants again this year with four high schools vying for the trophy,” said Marcelle.
