Hip-hopping his way to the top

Rising little star, Warrick Naudé is keeping his school's name high while hip-hopping to the top.

A rising little star from Maragon Avianto Private School is dancing his way to the top.

Warrick Naudé, a Grade 4 pupil, represented his school at the National Eisteddfod Academy (NEA) Young Performer of the Year Awards for the second year in a row.

The competition kicked off in 2014 where Warrick received a diploma for his Hip Hop Solo Dance in Grade 3.

This achievement entitled this young dancer to enter the NEA Young Performer of the Year Competition which commenced in March.

Warrick battled through 1 361 qualifying entries which was later reduced to 83 semi-finalists and eventually cut to 25 finalists over a number of rounds with individuals and groups in the different genres of contemporary music, classical and crossover music, speech, drama and dance.

Annelise Botha, the HOD of the Culture department in the Intersen Phase and her husband represented Maragon Private Schools at this prestigious function where the school’s little Hip Hop star walked away as the overall winner for the Dance Entry Level for his age group.
