A tip-off by a member of the community send police straight to the suspect's home.

A 30-year-old Tsakane suspect was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning (26 April) for possession of illegal drugs.

Police were patrolling the area when they received an anonymous call from a concerned member of the public.

“The complainant gave a tip-off to the police as well as the address of the suspect who allegedly was dealing in drugs in Tsakane Sector 5. At the given address police found the suspect and his two accomplices in the back room,” said Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

PThey also found two small packets of an illegal drug known as Cat in the suspect’s pockets.

He was arrested and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket for possession of illegal drugs was opened.

“This is how we want our communities to assist us in the fight against crime and taking charge of their areas by not allowing criminals to do as they like. Let us continue making it difficult for criminals to operate in our space,” said a proud Brigadier Ngubane, Kagiso Police Station commander.

The suspect will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon, facing the aforementioned charges.
