A 26-year-old man was sentenced to 60 year imprisonment for being found guilty of a combination of crimes.
The accused, Frans Chauke, was sentenced on four counts of house robbery and two counts of possession of an unlicensed fire arm and ammunition in the Kagiso Regional Court on Wednesday, 4 May.
Chauke committed the crimes in Muldersdrift, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.
“The robberies were committed in 2011 and 2014 when he was eventually arrested,” he said.
The Muldersdrift Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Seabi applauded the detectives, Sergeant Sam Manana and Constable Mncedisi Bambiso for their perseverance and dedication.
“Their investigative work is of an excellent quality,” Seabi said.
“Chauke is believed to be linked to other crimes in the province and will appear in court on those cases,” Ngwenya concluded.
