Cars of Krugersdorp: 1974 Ford Cortina

Jack and David Binder's 1974 Ford Cortina is an absolute beauty.

Even though the Cars of Krugersdorp series, which featured both in the newspaper and on the News’ website, came to an end in September, one Golden Oldie just had to make an appearance.

In this special edition of Cars of Krugersdorp, we feature Jack and David Binder’s 1974 Ford Cortina, which is an absolute beauty.

The father/ son duo has had the car for more than 25 years and started rebuilding it three years ago.

After giving it an incredible new paint job, fitting it with new parts and chrome finishers, the total spent on the refurbishing of the car amounts to R210 000.

To top it off, this car has been everywhere. It is a regular at weddings, matric farewells, car shows and it is also a fan favourite at the Cortina Fun Club.

Some interesting facts about the car:

• It has a 3-litre V6 engine
• Its top speed is 220km/h
• It is a four-door sedan
• It’s named Katrina, after Hurricane Katrina
