#IMadeMyMark: Residents hope for change across Krugersdorp

Although there were issues at many voting stations the residents of Mogale still showed up and voted.

Many South Africans went to make their mark on November 1 hoping to secure a good future for their country.

Two of them were Chrisna and Yolandie Roode. They moved to Krugersdorp a little less than a year ago and said they have already experienced some issues in Mogale City. They voted at the Kudu Park voting station.

Chrisna said she hoped that whoever is in charge of her ward after the elections would tackle the issues they were facing.

Speaking about the voting process she said it was quick, adding that the staff helped everyone and was very friendly.

One of the party representatives at the Kudu Park voting station explained to the News that 2 958 people were registered at this voting station.

The News did pick up on a few issues at the voting stations. A woman who had lived on the East Rand more than 20 years ago and had voted in Mogale City in a previous election, was told that she was registered to vote on the East Rand and had to vote there.

Another new voter, an 18-year-old also was not registered at the relevant voting station and could not cast his first-ever vote.

This seemed to have been a recurring issue at voting stations.
