The results are in for Mogale City

The ballots for the 115 districts which make up the 39 Mogale City wards have been counted and the results tabulated on the IEC website.

The results for the 2021 Municipal Elections for Mogale City are in.

With ballots counted for all 115 voting districts which make up 39 wards across Mogale City and include Krugersdorp, Kagiso, Chamdor, Munsieville, Muldersdrift, Tarlton, Magaliesburg and Tarlton, the ANC has come out in the lead with 40,17% of the votes.

Percentage-wise, the DA has come in second with 32,26%; the EFF in third with 13,89%; the FF Plus in fourth with 7,78%; and the IFP in fifth with 1,37%.

The other parties’ results are the ACDP with 1,01%; PAC 0,73%; ATM 0,58%; AIC 0,5%; COPE (0,32%); UDM (0,32%); AMSA (0,2%); IND (0,21%); and other (0,66%).

The ANC saw a decline in support of 17,75% (from 48,84% to 40,17%) since the previous municipal elections of 2016. The DA’s support declined by 7,51% (from 34,88% to 32,26%); the EFF’s support increased by 19,23% (from 11,65% to 13,89%); the FF Plus’s support increased by 239,74% (from 2,29% to 7,78%); and the IFP’s support increased by 92,96% (from 0,71% to 1,37%). Note: Values have been rounded to the closest second digit.

In total, according to the IEC, the ANC received 71 940 votes, the DA secured 57 781 votes and the EFF had 24 873 votes.

Of the 77 council seats available in the Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM), the ANC has been allocated 31; the DA 25; the EFF 11; the FF Plus six; and the IFP, ACDP, PAC and ATM one each.

Bar a coalition between the top three opposition parties, which would collectively make up 53,93% of the vote, the ANC will again be the ruling party in MCLM.
